Stories You've Never Heard Before
Hi, everybody!
I keep a running file of books that people tell me to read or that seem interesting when I stumble across them. Here are ten books that I haven't read yet.
How To Survive In Your Native Land by James Herndon. "Herndon's second book How To Survive In Your Native Land (1971) centers on Herndon's subsequent decade teaching. Its humorous, Beat style led reviewers to compare Herndon to Kurt Vonnegut."
The Night Manager by John le Carré. I'm a bit embarrassed to say I haven't read any of his books, because I know I'll love them when I do.
Songwriters on Songwriting by Paul Zollo. I have a similar book that interviews piano players, seems like it would be fun to flip through this one.
How To Explain Absolutely Anything to Absolutely Anyone: The art and science of teacher explanation by Andy Zarby. I have no idea if it's relevant for mathematics teaching.
Cosmogramma by Courttia Newland. Stories. From the blurb: "Other tales take on more mystical rather than scientific elements, among them “Seed,” which sees mysterious seeds crop up across the planet overnight, eventually sprouting into fully grown human beings."
Is There a God? A Debate: A Book
American Estrangement by Saïd Sayrafiezadeh, I actually have this requested from the library right now.
Forgetting: The Benefits of Not Remembering by Scott A. Small
I've always been curious about military strategy.
I Will Tell You Algebra Stories You've Never Heard Before by Zoltan Dienes.
I can't vouch for any of these books,
Michael
